A Vegan’s Best Friend

Updated: Aug 20, 2020

“You found a friend in me.”

When I became Vegan my main worry was what will I cook? I had a head start as I was brought up vegetarian, my parents educated me in the art of cooking without meat; however, this didn’t prepare me for a life without eggs, cheese and cream!

But the cause is greater than my desire to get tucked into a melted brie or dress my soldiers in their inevitable yellow fate. To be healthy we do not need to callously farm mammals, but that doesn’t make it easy in a world where most of the population are carnivorous. I have repeatedly heard people say to me “I wish I could be Vegan but I cant give up cheese or meat, tuna, eggs”. I’ve heard it all and I understand it because that was me. I was the person saying that to my Vegan sister while I ate a rare steak and still went to the petting zoo cuddled baby cows, piglets and lambs guilt free. Why would I feel guilty though? The meat industry do not feed us anything that resembles meat. I eat a burger, it sure doesn’t look anything like a cow. Thank you, now I’m guilt free. But if they serve me a burger cut into the shape of a baby calf, I’m feeling kind of bad.

SO I want to help because we may not all know where to start when it comes to cooking Vegan. I have many recipes I have been working on, and it’s all thanks to my hardworking, dependable friend, the BLENDER, that I have created a base to so many vegan desserts and savory dishes as seen in the images above, which include:

  1. Cashew cream

  2. Smoothies

  3. Cake bases

  4. Protein balls

  5. Pancake mixes

  6. Cheese

  7. Pesto

I will include recipes in my next post. Just remember, when lost, “reach for the blender.”
